How to paint and protect your wooden Colorado boundary fence

If you want to extend the life of your wooden fence you need to paint or stain it on a regular basis. Now is the perfect time to get it done. All you need is a few dry days, some paint or stain and some brushes and you’re ready to give new life to your fence…and your dad a well-deserved break from household chores.

Supplies needed:

  • Brushes and rollers
  • Paint or stain
  • Face mask
  • Disposable gloves
  • Drop cloth and masking tape
  • High pressure hose or pressure washer
  • Soap and bleach
  • Wash cloth

Making your old fence look new again

  • Use a high pressure hose or a pressure washer to strip the fence
  • Clean the fence with soap and bleach
  • Tape off areas you do not wish to paint or stain
  • Place plastic bags or a sheet on the grass to protect it from dripping paint
  • Once the fence is completely dry, start painting or staining
  • Paint with the grain for best results
